The Oak Ridge Energy Cooridor’s (OREC) focus is on “Big Idea” projects that represent solutions to energy challenges with a mission to create, promote and support a sustainable energy plan for the Tennessee Valley. The ultimate goal of OREC is to become a sustainable regional “energy park” by focusing on four initiatives.
Making Oak Ridge the first carbon neutral city and region in the United States by 2030 with an integrated clean power project.
Designing a plan to create an integrated transportation solution for the region, that can be replicated nationwide.
Making the region carbon neutral by 2030 through an increase in energy efficiency by 30 percent per capita within the Tennessee Valley.
Developing a unique energy transmission infrastructure that will integraet distributed generation with next generation delivery systems.
